Pourquoi ?

Lamb is widely used in limited-ingredient and hypoallergenic dog food formulations because it is a novel protein for most dogs — meaning dogs rarely develop allergies to lamb unless they have been exposed to it before. For dogs with food sensitivities to chicken, beef, or other common proteins, lamb is an excellent alternative.

Lamb provides complete amino acid profiles, B12, zinc, and iron. It's slightly higher in fat than chicken but comparable to beef. Cooked plain lamb — without seasonings, garlic, onion, or rosemary (which can be mildly irritating) — is fully safe.

Lamb bones follow the same rule as all cooked bones: never give cooked lamb bones, which splinter. Raw lamb bones fed under supervision are safer but still carry risk.
