Warum?

Plum flesh (Prunus domestica) is safe for dogs and provides vitamins A, C, and K, along with potassium and antioxidants. A slice or two of ripe plum flesh is a safe occasional treat for healthy dogs.

The pit is the hazard: like all stone fruit pits, plum pits contain amygdalin. When chewed, amygdalin releases hydrogen cyanide. The pit is also large enough in relation to small dogs to cause intestinal obstruction if swallowed whole.

Plum skin, while not toxic, can be difficult to digest for some dogs and may contribute to GI upset in sensitive animals. Start with a small amount of peeled flesh to assess individual tolerance.
