DÜRFEN HUNDE RAISINS ESSEN?
Raisins are dehydrated grapes and carry the same severe kidney toxicity — with the added danger that smaller quantities are needed to cause lethal organ failure.
Dürfen Hunde Raisins Essen?
Raisins ist giftig für Hunde. Unten findest du, warum es gefährlich ist, auf welche Symptome du achten musst, die giftige Dosis und was sofort zu tun ist.

Warum?
Raisins share the same unidentified toxin as grapes, but dehydration concentrates it dramatically. A single small box of raisins (about 1.5 oz) contains enough concentrated toxin to cause acute kidney failure in a medium-sized dog.
The kidneys are the primary target organ. Tubular cell death occurs rapidly, and the kidney loses its ability to filter creatinine and blood urea nitrogen — standard kidney function markers. Without aggressive IV fluid therapy started before symptoms fully appear, the window for preventing permanent kidney damage is narrow.
Currants — a close botanical relative — appear to carry similar toxicity. Trail mix, granola bars, cookies with raisins, and fruitcake are common household sources that owners underestimate.
Welche Menge ist gefährlich?
Even a single raisin can be dangerous for a small dog. Toxic effects have been documented at as low as 0.1 oz (3g) of raisins per kg of body weight, but no safe floor exists. Assume any raisin ingestion is an emergency.
Welche Symptome gibt es?
- vomiting (often containing raisins)
- diarrhea
- lethargy
- loss of appetite
- abdominal pain
- decreased urination
- increased thirst initially then none
- kidney failure
Was soll ich tun?
Contact your vet or ASPCA Poison Control (+1 888-426-4435) immediately. Early intervention (inducing vomiting, activated charcoal, IV fluids) dramatically improves outcomes. Do not wait for symptoms.
Häufige Fragen
Can dogs eat one raisin?

Are raisins more dangerous than grapes?
Gram for gram, yes. Dehydration concentrates the toxic compound significantly.
