Pourquoi ?

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) contains gingerols and shogaols — bioactive compounds with anti-nausea, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. Veterinarians sometimes recommend small amounts of ginger for dogs experiencing motion sickness or mild nausea, and it has a long record of safe use in this context.

The anti-nausea effect is well-documented: ginger works by blocking serotonin receptors in the gut that trigger nausea. A small amount of fresh or ground ginger given 30 minutes before car travel can reduce motion sickness.

Large amounts, however, cause the opposite effect — GI irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. Ginger also has mild blood-thinning properties; dogs on anticoagulant medications should not receive ginger without veterinary guidance.
