Warum?
While grocery-store mushrooms (Agaricus bisporus — button, cremini, portobello) are safe for dogs, wild mushrooms are a different matter entirely. Approximately 20 species of wild mushrooms are lethal to dogs and humans, and they are difficult to identify reliably even for experts.
Amanita phalloides (death cap) and Amanita ocreata (death angel) contain amatoxins that shut down liver and kidney function. The insidious pattern: GI symptoms appear in the first 6–24 hours, then resolve, making owners believe the dog has recovered — while amatoxin silently destroys liver cells. Liver failure becomes apparent 24–96 hours after ingestion, often too late for effective intervention.
Other toxic genera include Galerina (amatoxins), Gyromitra (gyromitrin, converted to monomethylhydrazine in the body), and Cortinarius (orellanine, causes kidney failure weeks later).
Welche Menge ist gefährlich?
A single death cap mushroom contains enough amatoxin to be fatal for a dog or a child.
Welche Symptome gibt es?
