Pourquoi ?
Peach flesh (Prunus persica) is safe, nutritious, and well-tolerated by most dogs. It provides vitamin A, C, E, potassium, and niacin. The sweet, soft texture is appealing to dogs, and the high water content adds to hydration.
The pit is the danger — one of the most hazardous stone fruit pits because of its size, sharp edges, and toxin content. Peach pits contain amygdalin (cyanide precursor), are large enough to cause complete intestinal obstruction, and have irregular jagged edges that can lacerate the esophagus, stomach, or intestines.
Canned peaches in syrup are not suitable — the sugar content is very high and some contain added sweeteners. Fresh or frozen plain peach flesh (pit removed) is the ideal form.
