Why?

Plain boiled rice is one of the most commonly recommended foods for dogs recovering from diarrhea or vomiting. It is easily digestible, binding, and provides energy without demanding much from the GI tract. The "bland diet" of rice and boiled chicken is a standard veterinary recommendation for dogs with upset stomachs.

White rice digests more easily and is preferred for GI recovery. Brown rice is nutritionally richer but takes longer to digest, making white rice the better choice for sensitive stomachs. Neither contains anything toxic to dogs.

Rice should be plain — no butter, salt, soy sauce, or seasonings of any kind.
